Chris Liebing is heading to Detroit this weekend for a double-header night including his 3 hour set at the festivals Underground Stage, and the official afterparty at Blue. Leading up to these events, Chris took some time to tell us his thoughts about Detroit's evolving party scene, what he's looking forward to at this years festival, and of course, the CLR afterparty on Saturday, May 24th.
Name: Chris Liebing
Title/affiliation: Dr. Bassdrum
Years attending movement: Many, but not enough.
What are you trying to offer with this year’s event?
I am super-happy to close down the Underground Stage on Saturday, and to be able to play a three-hour set, that will allow me to take some detours on the journey I want to take the people on. Later on, we will have our own CLR after party, so it is twice as exciting to go to Detroit this time. I am extremely looking forward to having a lot of fun with the people.
How have you seen the after party scene evolve over the years?
It has definitely become more and more professional and people are looking forward to also partying at night. There are some great venues in Detroit that are really cool to party in. As the festival is only once a year, it is always such a special event. It really just gets better and better.
What’s the hardest part about throwing a Movement Afterparty?
Honestly, I don't really know, as I never have a hard part doing this. You probably should ask the people who are setting up the sound system. There are a lot of speakers to set up, and they probably have the most exhausting job.
