For the memorable release number of CLR40, Perc is back on the label with an equally memorable record. One more time he is refusing to conform to preconceptions, twisting the established forms of Techno into something individual and unique. While >Antifunk< is pretty much straightforward Techno, characterized by Percs ceaseless sonic experimentation, >Purple< basically breaks with everything we have heard on CLR before. But even though the beat pattern is downright unconventional, and even though he uses all kinds of influences from different musical styles, he never loses sight of the dance floor. With this record, CLR releases its first broken beat track and heralds a new, slightly more experimental phase in the musical history of the label.
